Bookings & Reservations
How does booking a tour on Kavkazland work?
+
Booking is a three-step process:
  • Find your tour β€” browse tours in Russia, Georgia, Turkey, or Kazakhstan and pick a departure date.
  • Pay the deposit β€” secure your spot by paying the deposit (percentage set by the operator). Your spot is not confirmed until the deposit is received.
  • Confirmed straight away β€” your place is yours the moment the payment goes through. Nobody has to approve it. You'll get an email with all the details, and your guide is told at the same time.
The remaining balance is due before departure (exact due date shown on your booking). See How it works for the full walkthrough.
Which countries does Kavkazland cover?
+
We currently operate in four countries: Russia, Georgia, Turkey, and Kazakhstan. Every tour is run by a local Travel Expert who lives and guides full-time in that destination. We plan to expand over time.
Does my guide have to confirm my booking?
+
No. Your place is confirmed and the seat is taken the moment your payment goes through β€” there is no approval step and nothing to wait for. Your guide is notified at the same time you are, and will normally be in touch within 24 hours β€” 48 at the latest β€” to talk through the details. If you haven't heard from them by then, tell us and we'll chase it up. If a guide ever has to cancel a confirmed booking, you are refunded in full however close to departure it happens β€” see Cancellations.
Can I book for a group or join solo?
+
Both are welcome. When booking you specify the number of adults and children β€” the price is calculated automatically. Solo travellers are very common and guides are experienced at making everyone feel part of the group. All tours have a maximum of 15 participants. See Small group benefits.
What is the price for children?
+
By default, children aged 2–17 are charged at 85% of the adult price. Individual operators may set a stricter rate where child costs are comparable to adults. The exact child price is always shown before you pay. For children under 2, contact the operator directly.
What does "guaranteed departure" mean?
+
A guaranteed departure means the tour will run on that date regardless of how many people have booked β€” even if you are the only person. Look for the "Guaranteed" badge on tour listings. This gives you certainty when booking flights and accommodation.
How do I contact my guide before the trip?
+
Once your booking is confirmed, use My Messages to contact the operator directly. You can also send an enquiry before booking from any tour listing page. Most operators respond within 24–48 hours.

Payments & Pricing
Is my payment secure?
+
Yes. All card and SBP payments are processed through YooKassa, a fully licensed Russian payment provider. We never store your card details. See Trust & Safety for full details.
What payment methods are accepted?
+
  • Bank card (Visa, Mastercard, Mir) β€” processed securely via YooKassa
  • SBP (БистСма быстрых ΠΏΠ»Π°Ρ‚Π΅ΠΆΠ΅ΠΉ) β€” instant transfer via QR code
All charges are in Roubles. If a tour is priced in another currency, the Rouble equivalent is shown before you confirm.
How does the deposit and balance system work?
+
Kavkazland uses a two-part payment model:
  • Deposit β€” paid at booking to secure your spot. Percentage set by the Travel Expert, shown clearly before you pay.
  • Balance β€” remaining amount, due by a balance due date set by the operator. Reminder emails are sent as the date approaches.
For last-minute bookings, the operator may require the full amount upfront.
When is my card charged?
+
Your card is charged when you book β€” a real charge, not a pre-authorisation. Your place is confirmed and held the moment the payment goes through, with nobody left to approve it. Cancel inside your free window and the whole amount comes back, card fee included.
↩️
Cancellations & Refunds
Can I cancel right after booking and get a full refund?
+
Yes β€” every booking includes a cooling-off window immediately after you pay. This is a platform rule operators cannot override:
  • Every booking, whenever you travel: 30 minutes
After the window closes, the tour's cancellation policy applies.
To cancel, go to My Bookings and select "Cancel booking".
What is the standard cancellation policy?
+
Kavkazland's default (applies if the operator hasn't set a custom one):
  • 30+ days before departure: Full refund.
  • 14–29 days before departure: 50% refund.
  • 0–13 days before departure: No refund.
Operators may set stricter or more generous tiers β€” always check the specific policy on the listing.
What if my tour gets cancelled by the guide?
+
If a Travel Expert cancels your confirmed booking for any reason within their control, you receive a full refund of all amounts paid. This is a non-negotiable platform rule. Refunds are processed within 5 business days. See Trust & Safety.
What if the operator changes tour details after I've booked?
+
If a Travel Expert makes a material change (itinerary, price, dates, inclusions), you will be notified by email and given a penalty-free window to cancel for a full refund β€” even if the standard policy would normally apply a penalty.
What counts as force majeure?
+
Natural disasters, government travel bans, or verifiable extreme weather qualify for a full refund regardless of policy. Contact viktoriia.strazhnikova@gmail.com with your booking reference and documentation.
How long do refunds take?
+
Approved refunds are processed within 5 business days and returned to your original payment method. You'll receive a confirmation email once initiated. Actual arrival time depends on your bank.

Tours & Guides
Who are the Travel Experts?
+
All guides on Kavkazland are local, full-time professionals based in Russia, Georgia, Turkey, or Kazakhstan. They live in the destination and guide as their primary work β€” not agencies or resellers. Every guide is verified before being listed.
How are guides verified?
+
Every Travel Expert goes through identity verification, experience review, and β€” for adventure, mountain, and trekking tours β€” confirmation of a valid first aid certificate. Guides are reviewed annually. See Trust & Safety.
What difficulty levels are available?
+
  • Easy β€” suitable for most fitness levels.
  • Moderate β€” some walking; comfortable fitness required.
  • Challenging β€” good fitness and sometimes prior experience needed.
  • Expert β€” demanding; specific skills or high fitness required.
Always read the requirements on the tour listing before booking.
Do I need travel insurance?
+
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering trip cancellation, medical emergencies, and evacuation. It is your responsibility to arrange this β€” Kavkazland does not provide insurance. For adventure tours, ensure your policy covers the specific activities involved.
πŸ‘₯
Group Size
What is the maximum group size?
+
All tours on Kavkazland have a maximum of 15 participants. This is a platform-wide rule β€” operators cannot list tours for larger groups. Small groups mean more personalised attention, better access to remote locations, and a richer overall experience. See Small group benefits.
Why does Kavkazland cap groups at 15?
+
Large groups change the nature of an experience β€” harder to manage safely in remote areas, disruptive to local communities, and guides can't give adequate attention to each person. At 15 or fewer, a guide knows everyone by name, can adjust the pace, and can access places off-limits to larger tours. It's a quality decision, not a commercial one.
Can I book a private tour?
+
Some Travel Experts offer private departures (just your group). These are marked on the listing. If there's no private option shown, send the operator a message from the tour page β€” many guides are happy to discuss custom arrangements.

Safety & Trust
What is the Kavkazland Guarantee?
+
The Kavkazland Guarantee covers you in three situations:
  • Your guide cancels for any reason within their control β†’ full refund.
  • The tour is significantly different from what was advertised β†’ full refund or free rebooking.
  • There is a verifiable safety issue on tour β†’ full refund.
All refunds processed within 5 business days. See Trust & Safety.

Is my personal data protected?
+
Yes. We only share information necessary to complete your booking with the Travel Expert. We never sell your data to third parties. Read our full Privacy Policy.
Fraud warning β€” what should I watch out for?
+
Kavkazland will never contact you asking for payment via WhatsApp, Telegram, or email wire transfer. If someone claims to represent Kavkazland and asks for off-platform payment, do not pay and report it immediately via our contact page.

For Travel Experts
How do I list a tour on Kavkazland?
+
Create a Travel Expert account at Sign up as a guide. Once verified, create your first tour from the operator dashboard. New tours go through a review before going live β€” typically within 48 hours. Visit the operator page for full details.
What commission does Kavkazland charge?
+
Kavkazland charges a 15% commission on the Tour Cost. There are no listing fees or upfront costs β€” you only pay when you earn. Commission is deducted before the balance is remitted to you.

If a booking is cancelled and part of the payment is retained under the cancellation policy, the same 15% applies to the retained amount β€” card processing fees are not returned to us on a refund. If a booking is refunded in full, no commission is charged. You can see the exact split for every booking on the Earnings tab of your dashboard.
Can I set my own cancellation policy?
+
Yes, within limits. You can set tiers stricter or more generous than the Kavkazland default. Two rules cannot be overridden:
  • Every tourist gets a cooling-off window at booking (30 minutes from booking).
  • If you cancel a confirmed booking, the tourist receives a full refund β€” no exceptions.
What if I need to cancel a confirmed booking?
+
If you cancel a confirmed booking for any reason within your control, the tourist is entitled to a full refund of all amounts paid. You may not withhold any portion of the Tour Cost. Cancellations are recorded and reviewed β€” three in twelve months, or two within fourteen days of departure, may lead to suspension. See Terms for Travel Experts.
Can I change tour details after tourists have booked?
+
Non-material updates (photos, description wording) can be made at any time. If you change material details β€” itinerary, price, dates, inclusions β€” tourists with confirmed bookings are automatically notified and given a penalty-free cancel window. Admin is also notified.
